2024 H-1B petitions: Approvals for employers classified under Finance and Insurance industry across Pontiac Times publication area

In 2024, all H-1B petitions submitted by employers classified under the Finance and Insurance industry located across Pontiac Times publication area were approved, according to data provided by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services via the H-1B Employer Data Hub.

This represents an approval rate of 100%, which is higher than the average in Michigan across all industries.

That year, the statewide average approval rate for H-1B petitions stood at 98.2%, slightly higher than 2023’s 97.4%. Across the publication area, employers across all industries submitted 889 petitions during the same period, with an approval rate of 99.1%.

For comparison, the U.S. reported an average approval rate of 98% in 2024.

While the Manufacturing industry led the H-1B filings with 463 petitions, representing 52.1% of all submissions in Pontiac Times publication area during 2024, the next largest contributor was the Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services industry, which accounted for 266 petitions and represented 29.9% of the total. Among petitions from employers in the Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services industry, 99.6% were approved and 0.4% were denied.

The employers that filed the most petitions in the Finance and Insurance sector in Pontiac Times publication area during 2024 included United Wholesale Mortgage, LLC with 90 petitions, Comerica Management Company with three petitions, and United Wholesale Mortgage, LLC with one.

Compared to 2023, the Finance and Insurance sector saw an 8.7% decrease in the number of H-1B petitions across Pontiac Times publication area during 2024.
