Chairwoman Lisa McClain, U.S. Congresswoman representing Michigan’s 9th district, shared several messages on her official Twitter account between May 10 and May 11, 2026. Her posts touched on personal reflections for Mother’s Day, tax policy proposals for working families, and criticism of Democratic criminal justice policies.
On May 10, McClain posted a tribute to her family: “Everything I know about hard work, faith, and family I learned from my mom. Everything that matters most to me, I see in my daughters. Happy Mother’s Day to the women who shaped me and my daughters who inspire me every day.”
Later the same day, she highlighted proposed tax changes intended to benefit working-class Americans: “A waitress in Macomb County. A trucker on I-94. A nurse pulling a double shift. The Working Families Tax Cuts were built for them. No tax on tips. No tax on overtime. No tax on Social Security. President Trump and House Republicans are finally putting the forgotten”.
On May 11, McClain criticized Democratic approaches to criminal justice reform: “Democrats call it ‘compassion’ when violent offenders are released back onto our streets. Tell that to the victims. Tell that to the families. Tell that to the police officers forced to deal with the consequences.”
McClain has served as Michigan’s 9th district representative since replacing Paul Mitchell in 2021 and was born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966 before moving to Bruce later in life.
She graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1997.
