Chairwoman Lisa McClain, who has represented Michigan’s 9th District in the U.S. Congress since 2021, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing legislative developments and party positions. McClain, a Republican and current resident of Bruce, Michigan, commented on the voting behavior and public statements of House Democrats regarding recent legislation.

On July 14, 2025, McClain stated that “All House Democrats voted no on the One Big Beautiful Bill yet they are starting to claim the dough.” She highlighted what she described as a contradiction between Democratic lawmakers’ votes against the bill and their subsequent actions.

Later that same day, McClain posted another statement regarding immigration enforcement and funding for security initiatives. She wrote that “Democrats continue to defend the vicious mobs attacking ICE agents that are keeping our communities SAFE. Republicans are supercharging @POTUS’ promise to get violent illegal aliens off of our streets with the One Big Beautiful Bill by delivering over $68 billion to secure our”. In this message, she underscored Republican efforts to increase funding for security measures as part of the referenced bill.

Lisa McClain was born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966 and holds a BBA from Northwood University (1997). She succeeded Paul Mitchell as representative for Michigan’s 9th District.
