Chairwoman Lisa McClain, U.S. Congresswoman representing Michigan’s 9th district, made several statements on social media addressing public safety and community concerns between March 11 and March 12, 2026.

On March 11, McClain commented on an incident involving law enforcement and a suspect, stating: “These are the violent, illegal criminals Democrats are defending. Are you kidding me?! He took an officer’s gun. Deport him NOW!”.

The following day, she addressed her constituents regarding a developing situation at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. On March 12, she posted: “My office is monitoring the situation at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. If you are in the area, please follow any and all instructions from law enforcement. Avoid the area and stay safe. Our prayers are with those on the ground.”

Later that same day, after law enforcement responded to the situation at Temple Israel, McClain expressed gratitude for their efforts and support for the Jewish community: “Thank you Lord And thank you to the security and law enforcement on site for working to neutralize the shooter. Our prayers continue to be with our Jewish brothers and sisters and all of those involved. Antisemitism has no place in our country.”

Lisa McClain has served in Congress since 2021 after replacing Paul Mitchell as representative of Michigan’s 9th district. She was born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966 and currently resides in Bruce. McClain graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1997.
