Chairwoman Lisa McClain, U.S. Congresswoman representing Michigan’s 9th district since 2021, posted a series of statements on her social media account addressing recent events and policy issues.
On February 25, 2026, McClain reflected on her participation at the University of Michigan’s annual event: “It was an honor to keynote the 75th Annual @UMich Congressional Breakfast today! This annual event is about more than just a 75-year tradition; it’s about fueling the next 75. I was inspired by all the alumni and students in attendance, and I will keep fighting to make U-M the”.
The following day, McClain commented on federal veterans’ policy initiatives: “I am extremely pleased to see that President Trump and @SecVetAffairs are putting VETERANS first! The men and women who don our nation’s uniform deserve the best care after they leave the service, and for too long they had to deal with terrible backlogs and delays. No longer!” (February 26, 2026).
Later on February 26, she criticized Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s stance on legislation concerning gender transition procedures for minors: “Gretchen Whitmer wants to veto protections for kids facing irreversible ‘gender transition’ procedures. That’s not compassion. It’s CRAZY extremism. Republicans stand with parents and common sense. KIDS ARE NOT EXPERIMENTS.”
Lisa McClain has served in Congress since succeeding Paul Mitchell in 2021. Born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966, she currently resides in Bruce and earned her BBA from Northwood University in 1997.
