Chairwoman Lisa McClain, a U.S. Congress representative for Michigan’s 9th district since 2021, recently took to social media to address several pressing issues. In her tweets, she highlighted her concerns about legislative decisions and national security threats.

On June 3, 2025, McClain reminded the public that “ALL DEMOCRATS voted AGAINST the One Big Beautiful Bill’s provisions to fix our air traffic control system.” This statement points to a divide in Congress regarding the bill intended to improve air traffic management infrastructure.

Later that day, she addressed potential threats from foreign entities by stating “This is a major national security threat.” She claimed that “The CCP has smuggled what has been described as a ‘potential agroterrorism weapon’ into our country AND conducted research at the University of Michigan.” McClain emphasized the importance of safeguarding American universities from being used for foreign advancements.

On June 4, 2025, McClain shared data on public opinion regarding work requirements for welfare programs. She stated that “A bipartisan majority of Americans — 68 percent — support work requirements.” The tweet referenced House Republicans passing the One Big Beautiful Bill Act aimed at enhancing programs like SNAP and Medicaid.

Lisa McClain was born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966 and currently resides in Bruce. She graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1997.
