Chairwoman Lisa McClain, a U.S. Congress member representing Michigan’s 9th district since 2021, recently shared her views on social media regarding various issues. Born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966 and currently residing in Bruce, McClain graduated from Northwood University with a BBA in 1997.

On May 7, 2025, McClain expressed skepticism about the measures taken to ensure the safety of female athletes. She commented on a policy decision by stating “Apparently, the best way to keep female athletes safe isn’t to keep men out of their sports but to… *checks notes* … ban spiking the volleyball?! Give me a break.”

Later that day, during a hearing by the Department of Government Oversight and Efficiency Committee (DOGECommittee), McClain questioned the leader of the National Women’s Law Center about biological differences between men and women. She noted that “the leader of the National WOMEN’S Law Center said ‘NO’ when I asked her if there was a biological difference between men and women.”

In another post on May 7, McClain addressed an incident at Columbia University involving masked individuals she described as pro-Hamas extremists. She criticized Columbia for what she sees as enabling antisemitic actions on campus. Her statement read: “Once again, masked pro-Hamas extremists were able to take over Columbia’s campus and disrupt students. This is a direct consequence of Columbia’s actions to embolden antisemitic radicals, giving them a free pass to terrorize Jewish students and chant in support of VIOLENCE.”

Lisa McClain has been active in addressing various social issues through her role in Congress since succeeding Paul Mitchell.
