Chairwoman Lisa McClain, U.S. Congresswoman representing Michigan’s 9th district since 2021, voiced her opposition to a Senate bill regarding border security in a series of posts on March 27, 2026.

In her first post, McClain stated, “House Republicans cannot, and WILL NOT, be held hostage by Chuck Schumer. The bill he sent to the House has ZERO in funding for border security. It’s DEAD ON ARRIVAL.” (March 27, 2026).

Later that evening, she reiterated her position: “House Republicans have voted 3 TIMES to pay the DHS employees who KEEP AMERICA SAFE. Chuck Schumer sent us a bill that instead will DEFUND our border security. We won’t accept it.” (March 27, 2026).

In a third post the same night, McClain added: “The American people, in electing President Trump and House Republicans, made it clear they want a CLOSED BORDER and a SAFE AMERICA. This bill from the Senate does the opposite. That’s why I WILL NOT SUPPORT IT.” (March 27, 2026).

Lisa McClain succeeded Paul Mitchell as representative for Michigan’s 9th district and was born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966. She resides in Bruce and graduated from Northwood University with a BBA in 1997.
