House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain has expressed her condemnation of antisemitic attacks in the United States and gratitude towards law enforcement officers for their efforts to ensure public safety. McClain, representing Michigan, voted in favor of two House Resolutions aimed at addressing the rise in antisemitism.

The first resolution, H. Res. 481, was sponsored by Representative Jefferson Van Drew from New Jersey. It condemns recent antisemitic incidents, including a terrorist attack on June 1, 2025, in Boulder, Colorado; an attack on Israeli embassy staffers on May 21, 2025; and an attempted assassination targeting Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and his family on April 13, 2025.

The second resolution, H. Res. 488, introduced by Representative Gabe Evans of Colorado, also denounces the Boulder attack where the assailant used a slogan perceived as calling for harm against Israel and Jewish people. This resolution extends appreciation to law enforcement officers and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents for their role in maintaining safety.

Chairwoman McClain released a statement emphasizing the vulnerability faced by American Jews: “American Jews have a target on their back. They should not have to be scared to go to school, a synagogue or simply be Jewish.” She criticized Democrats for not taking stronger stances against these issues: “But so long as Democrats collectively refuse to denounce, condemn or even agree that this is problematic, the Jewish community will continue to have to live in fear.”

McClain reiterated the commitment of House Republicans to support law enforcement and address antisemitism: “Things have got to change, and House Republicans are committed to being part of the solution,” she said while noting that some Democrats opposed acknowledging ICE’s contributions.
