House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain has expressed her support for a rescissions package presented to Congress by the Trump administration. The initiative aims to restore fiscal responsibility and reduce unnecessary government spending.

“Washington has a spending problem, and this package is another step in the right direction,” said Chairwoman McClain. “These targeted rescissions are about eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse, not cutting essential services. We cannot keep passing the buck to future generations. I’m proud to support this effort to streamline federal spending and protect hard-working taxpayers.”

The package proposes withdrawing $9 billion in unspent federal funds, with the intention of returning taxpayer dollars to the Treasury rather than allowing them to be used inefficiently or redirected without oversight.
