The City of Rochester announced on March 10 that it is accepting applications from residents interested in serving on several local boards and commissions.

These positions offer community members the opportunity to participate in city governance and help shape local policies. The city is seeking applicants for a variety of roles, including one seat on the Cemetery Advisory Board for a one-year term, three seats on the City Beautiful Commission for three-year terms, two seats on the Downtown Development Authority for four-year terms (with eligibility extended to property owners in the downtown district), one seat on the Planning Commission for a three-year term, three seats on the Historic District Commission for three-year terms, and one seat with the Community Media Network.

Interested individuals are encouraged to apply through the city’s official website. Detailed information about each board or commission, as well as eligibility requirements, can be found by searching the City’s Municode Library or visiting the Boards and Commissions Portal provided by the City of Rochester.

These appointments provide an avenue for residents to contribute directly to decisions affecting their community. By participating in these boards and commissions, citizens can have a voice in areas such as urban planning, historic preservation, beautification efforts, cemetery management, downtown development, and media outreach.

Applications are currently being accepted online. The city encourages all eligible residents or property owners who wish to become more involved in civic affairs to consider applying.
