H-1B Insights: Employers in Pontiac Times publication area file 889 petitions throughout 2024

Employers based in the Pontiac Times publication area submitted 889 H-1B petitions during 2024, according to data provided by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services via the H-1B Employer Data Hub. Of these, 881 were approved (99.1%), while eight were denied (0.9%).

Employers are classified under industries based on their reported operations and may be involved in multiple industries.

The H-1B visa program allows U.S. employers to temporarily hire foreign workers in specialty occupations requiring specialized knowledge and at least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. The Manufacturing industry led the H-1B filings locally during 2024, with 463 petitions (52.1% of all submissions), and an approval rate of 98.7%. Meanwhile, the Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services industry was the second largest contributor, filing 266 petitions (29.9% of the total), with an approval rate of 99.6%.

The Pontiac Times publication area employers with the most petitions during 2024 included FCA US, LLC, which filed 158 petitions with an approval rate of 96.8%, United Wholesale Mortgage, LLC with 91 petitions and an approval rate of 100%, and Akkodis, Inc., which filed 77 petitions with an approval rate of 100%.

Compared to 2023, the Pontiac Times publication area saw a 22% decrease in the number of H-1B petitions during 2024.
