Today, the U.S. House of Representatives approved H.R. 3944, marking the first funding bill for Fiscal Year 2026. The bill dedicates $152.091 billion to support veterans’ health care, benefits, and other essential programs under the Department of Veterans Affairs. It also focuses on military construction and aligns defense investments with national security priorities.

House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) expressed her views in a statement: “America is a nation built on the service and sacrifice of our veterans—and they deserve nothing but the best in return. House Republicans are keeping our promises to take care of our heroes while also strengthening our military and protecting taxpayer dollars.”

Chairwoman McClain highlighted specific funding changes: “We are ending nonsense funding for DEI, illegal aliens, and transgender surgeries, and directing those resources toward actually helping our veterans and their families. We’re also prioritizing innovation and modernization across our military to ensure America remains safe, strong, and prepared for the threats of tomorrow.”
