The U.S. House of Representatives has approved H.R. 6329, known as the Quality Information Assurance Act. The legislation was introduced by House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain, who represents Michigan’s 9th district in Congress and has held the seat since 2021, following Paul Mitchell.
According to McClain, the bill aims to ensure that federal agencies use accurate and objective data when making regulatory decisions. “Washington bureaucrats shouldn’t be allowed to gamble with American jobs and family budgets using bad data,” said Chairwoman McClain. “For too long, agencies have pushed billion-dollar regulations behind closed doors with little accountability. This bill shines a light on the process and puts the American people back in charge.”
The legislation requires federal agencies to apply higher standards for information quality when developing rules that impact workers, families, farmers, and businesses. It also increases oversight of agency processes and seeks to prevent regulations based on incomplete or flawed analysis.
McClain was born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966 and currently resides in Bruce. She graduated from Northwood University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
