Chairwoman Lisa McClain, a U.S. Congress member representing Michigan’s 9th district since 2021, recently addressed several issues impacting Michigan residents through a series of social media posts.

On March 17, 2026, McClain criticized Democratic lawmakers’ stance on crimes committed by undocumented immigrants in the state. She wrote, “Democrats claim that fraud committed by CRIMINAL ILLEGAL ALIENS is no big deal. WRONG. In Michigan, illegals are stealing identities, benefits, and tax dollars from countless Michiganders. It is DISGRACEFUL that Democrats prioritize illegal alien law-breakers over the”.

The following day, March 18, McClain welcomed the Vice President to Michigan and praised recent economic policies supported by Republicans. She stated, “Welcome back to Michigan Mr. Vice President! Just like you said, the Working Families Tax Cuts are delivering REAL RELIEF for Michiganders. Thank a Republican!”

Later on March 18, she further highlighted the benefits of the Working Families Tax Cuts for car buyers in her district: “Even better, thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts, you can now deduct $10,000 in loan interest on new cars made right here in the USA “

McClain has served as Michigan’s representative since replacing Paul Mitchell in 2021 and was born in Stockbridge before settling in Bruce at age 57. She earned her BBA from Northwood University in 1997.
