Chairwoman Lisa McClain, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Michigan’s 9th district since 2021, posted a series of statements on February 10, 2026, addressing topics including immigration enforcement, tax policy impacts on seniors, and voter identification requirements.
In her first post of the day, McClain expressed frustration over media coverage related to crimes involving undocumented immigrants. She wrote on February 10: “I’m angry. Criminal illegal aliens are raping young women, murdering mothers, and selling drugs in our communities. Why won’t the media report the TRUTH? WATCH as I shed light on the REAL WORK of @ICEgov.”
Later that evening, McClain highlighted correspondence she received regarding tax relief for seniors. On February 10 she stated: “I received a letter the other day detailing the impact that the Working Families Tax Cuts had on a gentleman’s mom’s taxes. His mom, a widow and a crossing guard for a local school on social security, saved $1,300 this year thanks to the expanded senior deduction. REAL”
In another post that same night, McClain advocated for stricter voter identification laws in American elections. She wrote: “ONLY AMERICANS SHOULD VOTE IN AMERICAN ELECTIONS! If you have to show an ID to buy a beer, rent a car, book a hotel, board a plane, or donate blood, you should have to show an ID to vote. It’s that simple!”
McClain has served in Congress since replacing Paul Mitchell in 2021 and is known for her positions on immigration and fiscal policy. Born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966 and currently residing in Bruce at age 57, she graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1997.
