Chairwoman Lisa McClain, U.S. Congresswoman representing Michigan’s 9th district since 2021, made a series of posts on February 11 and 12, 2026, regarding election laws and immigration policy.
On February 11, McClain addressed her constituents’ concerns about election integrity, stating: “Michiganders know first hand that bad election laws weaken trust in our elections. I’ll be PROUD to vote to pass the SAVE America Act tonight to secure election integrity and make sure that ONLY American citizens vote in American elections.”
Later that evening, she announced her support for new legislation: “Tonight I voted to SAVE AMERICA by ensuring that ONLY American citizens can vote in American elections. Voter ID is popular. Voter ID is COMMON SENSE!”
In a separate post early on February 12, McClain responded directly to television host Jimmy Kimmel: “.@JimmyKimmel, I saw how you tried to twist my words last night. Let me be crystal clear: illegal immigrants who have murdered or raped Americans should be deported—immediately. If you disagree, say it plainly. Stop hiding behind jokes and late-night applause lines while you”
McClain was born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966 and currently resides in Bruce at age 57. She graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1997.
Her recent comments reflect ongoing national debates over voter identification requirements and policies concerning non-citizen voting eligibility. These issues remain central topics within broader discussions about election security and immigration enforcement across the United States.
