Matt Maddock, a Michigan state representative, posted a series of tweets on August 12, 2025, making claims about nonprofit organizations and alleged voter fraud operations in Michigan.
In his first post at 03:48 UTC, Maddock stated, “90% of all nonprofits getting taxpayer money are scams. Michigan taxpayers fund like 435 of them.”
Later that day at 13:32 UTC, he wrote, “Must read! Right now as u read this, there is an underground machine operating in Det and others cities using tax dollars to fraudulently “register” ghost voters.”
Shortly after, at 14:07 UTC, Maddock reiterated his earlier point with the statement, “Been saying this for decades. 90% of nonprofits getting tax dollars are scammers but they often give back if you know what I mean.”
Nonprofit organizations in Michigan receive government funding to provide a variety of public services. Oversight mechanisms exist at both state and federal levels to monitor the use of taxpayer funds by these organizations.
