Matt Maddock, a Michigan state representative, posted a series of tweets on August 12, 2025, making claims about nonprofit organizations and alleged voter fraud operations in Michigan.

In his first post at 03:48 UTC, Maddock stated, “90% of all nonprofits getting taxpayer money are scams. Michigan taxpayers fund like 435 of them.”

Later that day at 13:32 UTC, he wrote, “Must read! Right now as u read this, there is an underground machine operating in Det and others cities using tax dollars to fraudulently “register” ghost voters.”

Shortly after, at 14:07 UTC, Maddock reiterated his earlier point with the statement, “Been saying this for decades. 90% of nonprofits getting tax dollars are scammers but they often give back if you know what I mean.”

Nonprofit organizations in Michigan receive government funding to provide a variety of public services. Oversight mechanisms exist at both state and federal levels to monitor the use of taxpayer funds by these organizations. Claims regarding widespread fraud among nonprofits or voter registration processes have been raised previously but have not been substantiated by comprehensive investigations or official reports.
