Matt Maddock, a Republican member of the Michigan House of Representatives, posted several statements on his X (formerly Twitter) account on August 4, 2025. His tweets addressed issues related to government spending, taxation, and environmental terminology.

In a post published at 14:34 UTC, Maddock wrote: “Aside from Corporate Welfare Pigs, Property Taxes are the most immoral component of gov. It’s time to eliminate both and there is enough waste and duplication in gov to do it today.”

Six minutes later, he commented on environmental policy discussions with the statement: “BTW greenhouse gas emissions are not the same as carbon emissions bro”.

Later that afternoon at 16:10 UTC, Maddock referenced legislative action he is pursuing: “I have a bill to let dems voluntarily pay more taxes since they don’t think everyone else is taxed enough. Bet there isn’t one taker.”

Maddock has been an outspoken critic of what he considers excessive government spending and taxation during his tenure in the Michigan legislature. He has also frequently used social media platforms to voice opposition to certain tax policies and express skepticism about some aspects of climate change discourse.
