Matt Maddock, a Republican member of the Michigan House of Representatives, posted a series of tweets on August 11, 2025, expressing his views on crime and bail bond policies in the United States.

In one tweet at 14:37 UTC, Maddock commented on reactions to former President Donald Trump’s actions in Washington D.C., writing: “Watch the dems and communists btch about Trump cleaning up DC because they want crime”.

Later that day at 15:29 UTC, he addressed changes to bail bond regulations in Chicago: “When Chicago Communists outlawed Bail Bond Agencies, guess who took over?”.

In another post at 15:55 UTC, Maddock thanked the president for attention to issues concerning the bail bond industry. He stated: “Thank Mr. President for your attention to this matter. The Bail Bond Industry will hold criminals accountable to appear in court. We have your back.”

Maddock’s comments reflect ongoing debates around criminal justice reform and the role of bail bond agencies. In recent years, several U.S. cities and states have implemented reforms aimed at reducing or eliminating cash bail systems, arguing that such measures disproportionately impact low-income individuals while failing to improve public safety outcomes. Critics of these reforms argue that removing cash bail can lead to increased rates of defendants failing to appear in court and may affect community safety.

As a state legislator representing Michigan’s 51st District since 2019, Matt Maddock has been an outspoken advocate for conservative positions on law enforcement and criminal justice issues.
