Matt Maddock, a Michigan state legislator, used his social media account on August 9, 2025, to voice concerns about auto insurance rates and state budget negotiations.

In a post from August 9, 2025, Maddock stated: “We are getting so screwed with auto insurance. Something has to change. I’m committed to do whatever it takes if we win back the majority.”

Later that day, Maddock addressed school funding and tax policy in another message: “Record $12,000 for every schoolkid. Corporate Welfare and waste cuts. Almost double road funding all with NO TAX INCREASE and the greedy @MichiganDems are saying shut gov down unless they get a gas & income tax increase out of you.” The statement references ongoing debates within Michigan’s legislature regarding education spending, infrastructure investment, and disagreements over proposed tax increases.

In a third post from August 9, 2025, Maddock added: “Justice will prevail for all”.

Debates over auto insurance costs have been prominent in Michigan politics due to historically high premiums in the state. In recent years, lawmakers have considered reforms aimed at reducing these costs for consumers. Budget negotiations between Michigan’s Republican and Democratic lawmakers frequently involve disputes over education funding levels and whether new revenue should be raised through taxes or achieved by reallocating existing funds.
