Matt Maddock, a Michigan state representative, used his social media account on March 16, 2026, to criticize public education spending and judicial decisions in Michigan.
In one post from that day, Maddock stated: “Some teechers spend more classroom time on transitioning kids than they do teaching them reading and math. Run for school board to stop the groomers.” In another tweet posted minutes later, he wrote: “Publik skools are spending money on everything except what they should. Pools, community activity centers, coffee houses, restaurants and lounges and 25 million dollar sport complexes. And they only notify the dems of the May tax increase vote.”
Later that morning, Maddock also commented on the judiciary and crime rates in Michigan: “Communist and democrat judges in our cities refuse to put criminals in jail and they release them all with zero bail so they can keep stealing cars. This is partly why we have the highest insurance in Michigan.”
Maddock has been an outspoken figure within Michigan politics, frequently using social media to express his views on education policy and criminal justice. His remarks come amid ongoing debates over public school funding priorities in Michigan as well as concerns about crime rates and insurance costs in the state. School board elections and funding referenda often generate significant local attention due to their impact on property taxes and resource allocation.
