Matt Maddock, a member of the Michigan House of Representatives, made a series of posts on his X (formerly Twitter) account on February 19, 2026. His tweets addressed topics including criminal justice for sexual offenders and criticism of federal regulations impacting agriculture.
In his first post at 20:19 UTC, Maddock wrote, “What I voted for. Put the pedos and groomers in cages.” Later that evening at 20:25 UTC, he posted another message stating, “Leftist pedos and groomers wage war on girls.”
Later the same night at 22:10 UTC, Maddock turned to agricultural issues, posting: “Did you know the USDA charges $100 to “inspect” a cow (look at it) and farmers are now paying $1,000 to butcher a cow? This is nuts. The meat processors and the USDA is why we have to pay $25 a steak today.” In this tweet, Maddock criticized both the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and meat processors for contributing to high beef prices.
Maddock’s statements reflect ongoing debates about crime policy and regulatory impacts on food costs. As a state legislator representing Michigan’s 51st District since 2019, Maddock has frequently voiced opposition to what he describes as burdensome government regulations affecting small businesses and agriculture. His remarks regarding USDA inspection fees refer to federally mandated processes intended to ensure food safety in the U.S., which some producers argue increase operational costs.
