Michigan State Representative Matt Maddock made several posts on his social media account on March 20, 2026, addressing topics related to online engagement, criminal justice reform, and union voting practices.

In a post from the morning of March 20, Maddock questioned user participation in an online poll, stating: “137 views and only 29 votes? Are you afraid to vote or do you work for DTE or Consumers lol”.

Later that day, Maddock criticized changes to bail policies in the criminal justice system. He wrote: “Criminal justice for the left never meant justice for victims. They first destroy bail so no victim gets any justice because the criminal never appears in court and the victims sit and wait in court.….” on March 20.

That afternoon, Maddock addressed union voting methods with another post: “Auto Workers Union actually allows absentee ballots but they refuse to use them “.

Matt Maddock is a Republican member of the Michigan House of Representatives. In recent years, debates over bail reform have increased nationwide as some jurisdictions have moved to reduce reliance on cash bail systems. Critics argue that eliminating cash bail can result in defendants not appearing for court dates, while supporters say it reduces pretrial incarceration rates for low-income individuals.

DTE Energy and Consumers Energy are two major utility companies operating in Michigan. The Auto Workers Union referenced by Maddock is likely the United Auto Workers (UAW), which represents workers at major automobile manufacturers and has been involved in discussions about voting procedures during union elections.
