Matt Maddock, a Michigan state representative, made several posts on his social media account on April 15 and 16, 2026, addressing issues ranging from public funding for the arts to government resource management and broader political criticism.
On April 15, Maddock commented on public funding priorities by stating, “We should fund art just like we fund stadiums owned by billionaires that make billions “ (April 15, 2026). Later the same day, he addressed an incident involving a Department of Natural Resources (DNR) hatchery: “Two days ago a DNR hatchery lost power and they knew 1600 perfect salmon were going to die soon. Instead of giving them away to needy families, they loaded them into a dumpster. They could have given them all away.” (April 15, 2026).
On April 16, Maddock posted a critique linking economic hardship and government policy: “Communists first create the frustrations of high costs and unaffordablity to get everyone ‘inside their net’. Obamacare. Illegals occupying all the unaffordable home, more taxes instead of keeping your money, etc. Then they pull the net out of the water and starve their” (April 16, 2026).
Maddock has previously been vocal about state spending and government oversight in Michigan. As a Republican member of the Michigan House of Representatives representing District 51 since January 2019, he is known for his positions on fiscal responsibility and critiques of both state programs and federal policies.
