Avondale School District issued the following announcement on Mar 23.

CONGRATULATIONS to our Avondale GATE School students who participated in the Michigan Chess Association Scholastic Championship last weekend:  Zachary Tanner, Krishna Baalu, Elijah Billings, Anirudh Anand, Mihir Kapoor, Vivaan Jain, Ibrahim Siddiqui, Henry Diemer, Adyoth Ravish Sural, Shiva Shan, Alok Priyesh, Trevor David May, Rohan Kesarkar, Ethan Torvik, Maya Blazenka Lovria and Tyler Murray

Two students earned awards at the event:

Elijah Billings - 2nd Place Trophy for 2nd Grade in K-3 Championship.

Shiva Shan - 6th Place Silver Medal in K-5 Reserve.
