Oakland County Treasurer Robert Wittenberg in partnership with Oakland Schools, Flagstar Bank and the Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency recognized 22 students as winners and honorable mentions of the 2022 Financial Literacy Arts Contest.
Two students from Lake Orion High School were recognized for their art pieces on financial literacy. Dylan Ries received an honorable mention for the 10th grade and received a cash prize of $100. Natalie Rizzo received an honorable mention for the 12th grade and received a cash prize of $100.
Ries’ art piece “Tug of War” reflects how financial literacy assists in the ability of those who use it to get what they desire. He plans to use his winnings to put into savings as well as personal spending money.
Rizzo’s art piece “Not What I Ordered” reflects on how financial literacy impacts everyday life even in simple purchases such as coffee. She plans on using her winnings to help assist in paying for college and help recover from the loss of her stepfather.
