As international Bat Week comes to a close, we thought it would be fun to share some interesting facts about Michigan bats! The state is home to nine species of bats that are all insectivores, meaning they consume insects like mosquitos, beetles, moths, and flies.
Unfortunately, many bat species are in decline. One particular disease that is devastating to their populations recently is White-nose syndrome.
You can help bats by planting bat-friendly gardens, installing bat-houses, and leaving trees with cavities where they may hibernate.
