Today, Representative Lisa McClain from Michigan sent a letter to the state's Secretary of State, Jocelyn Benson. This action follows a report by The Detroit News indicating a breach in Michigan's election process. The letter seeks explanations from Secretary Benson regarding the incident and inquiries about any operational changes planned before certifying election results.

McClain stated, "Only U.S. citizens should vote in U.S. elections. The procedural failures that enabled a non-citizen to vote in our election must be investigated immediately." She further emphasized the urgency of the matter with the election approaching, expecting swift cooperation from Benson's office and assurance that the illegal ballot will not be included in the final results. "We must ensure confidence and legitimacy in our elections," she added.

The Detroit News reported on October 30th that a 19-year-old Chinese national had cast an illegal ballot during early voting.
