Rep. Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) has issued a statement following the U.S. House of Representatives' approval of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

In her statement, McClain criticized Democrats, saying, “Democrats don’t want born-alive babies to get life-saving medical care. This is insane. They prefer to do nothing—letting born-alive babies die in the delivery room. Their position is more extreme than communist countries like North Korea and China.” She expressed her support for the bill, stating, “Fortunately, House Republicans just stepped up and passed a law to save babies’ lives. I am proud of Congresswoman Ann Wagner for her tireless effort on this legislation.”

The legislation mandates that children who survive abortion procedures receive appropriate medical care and establishes significant criminal penalties for non-compliance. Additionally, it requires healthcare practitioners and hospital staff to report any violations to law enforcement authorities, aiming to decrease the number of unreported born-alive abortions.
