Matt Maddock, a Republican member of the Michigan House of Representatives, posted several critical remarks on his X (formerly Twitter) account between October 31 and November 1, 2025. The tweets addressed topics ranging from judicial policies to government spending.

On October 31, 2025, Maddock commented on bail reform measures in the judiciary, writing: "Lazy Communist judges LOVE zero bail. It’s the laziest way to ruin people’s lives".

In subsequent posts on November 1, 2025, Maddock discussed government welfare programs and fraud. In one tweet he stated: "Cut all the freeloader scammers and we can triple it for the legit." In another post made minutes later, he added: "Another scam. There are thousands of them in the tax- dollar arena."

Maddock has been an outspoken critic of criminal justice reforms such as zero-bail policies and has previously raised concerns about public assistance fraud. Bail reform efforts across several U.S. states have aimed to reduce pretrial detention for nonviolent offenders but have drawn criticism from some lawmakers who argue these changes may undermine public safety or accountability. Similarly, debates over social welfare spending often include discussions about how to balance supporting eligible recipients while preventing misuse of taxpayer funds.
