PONTIAC REGIONAL CHAMBER: Amazon facilities taking shape in Pontiac, distribution center nears completion

Construction

Pontiac Regional Chamber issued the following announcement on August 2.

Pontiac Growth!

Two new Amazon facilities in Pontiac are starting to take shape.

The global online retailer is currently constructing a regional distribution center and a 823,000 square-foot fulfillment center on the site that once held the Pontiac Silverdome. It’s a $271.6 million project that will bring more than 1,500 jobs to the area.

The regional distribution center, where delivery trucks will be loaded and sent out from, is mostly complete on the corner of Opdyke Road and Featherstone Road. Construction crews could be seen this week working on the parking lot in front of the distribution center, while behind it, the skeleton of the state-of-the-art fulfillment center towers above.
