Oxford Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Sept 23.
This Thursday's #lifebeforelessons features our tall, dark & handsome, Sherman! While Sherman may be a newer face to many of our riders and volunteers, some of our staff (human and horse) have known Sherman for years.
Years ago, Sherman lived and lessoned on a working cow farm with our little red-headed mare and his pal, Felicia. After some time there, both horses were fortunate enough to move to Goodrich, where they both worked at Amazing Wings, a former therapeutic riding center that many of us know well. In fact, some of our current riders even rode Sherman at Amazing Wings! When Amazing Wings closed, Felicia and Sheriff came to our program, and Sherman moved to a private family farm in the beautiful Metamora countryside, where he took very good care of their resident horse as pasture companion.
When the horse he was watching over crossed the Rainbow Bridge, Sherman found himself in need of a new purpose, and we were more than happy to give him a job in our program! Sherman can be found carrying our riders of all abilities in classes, and playing rough and tumble with Malabar and Cody in their time off. This guy is truly special, and I am so happy we were able to welcome him to our program for this next chapter of his life.
