Oxford Community Schools issued the following announcement on Oct 29.
Students carving potatoes?!
Yes! Third-grade students across the district carved potatoes as they learned about traditions in other countries (an Irish tradition). Using the theme, “Think Globally, Read Locally,” K-8 librarian Dr. Catherine Willoughby meets monthly with all third graders and reads a book by a Michigan author while teaching social studies concepts in the IB units of instruction. Soon students will be shaping copper, weaving Native American mats, and writing Morse Code!
