City of Rochester Hills issued the following announcement on Dec 15.
The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) recently honored Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan K. Barnett for his work to advocate for U.S. global leadership as an imperative and effective approach to strengthening our country’s local communities. USGLC paid tribute to Mayors across America at their 2021 Tribute Celebration online at celebrate.usglc.org/2021.
USGLC recognized Mayor Barnett at their national tribute event for his support of delegations of America’s mayors and elected officials. He has represented Rochester Hills and shared the importance of local leadership and engagement with government officials from many countries. “If we haven’t learned anything from COVID, the United States leadership role globally is so incredibly important,” states Mayor Barnett. Mayor Barnett was a featured speaker at USGLC’s 2021 Global Impact Forum, and has attended USGLC’s roundtables and in-district meetings that focus on Michigan’s important position as a globally-connected state.
“USGLC is proud to honor Mayor Barnett because he has been an influential advocate for strengthening American global leadership to support our communities here at home," said Liz Schrayer, President and CEO of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition. "Let’s face it, mayors across the country are on the frontlines every day, addressing global issues that are now kitchen table issues – from the pandemic to our economy – that matter to their constituents. They uniquely understand that America simply can’t ignore what happens outside our borders."
"Mayors, like Mayor Barnett, are stepping up, knowing that diplomacy and development are essential to the health, safety, and economic interests of every American family. It’s exciting to recognize them," added Schrayer.
