Lake Orion Community Schools issued the following announcement on Dec 13.
On December 10-11, 2021, the Lake Orion Thespians attended the Michigan Educational Theatre Association's State Thespian Festival. Every year thousands of theatre students from across the state gather to attend workshops, audition for scholarships, and present their art to professionals in the theatre industry. This year 38 students attended the event held in Lansing, and have achieved awards worthy of praise.
Two students, Bryan Donoghue and Nicole Gursin, auditioned for college scholarships in acting and musical theatre. Cassie Corea, Liam Mick, and Alyssa Stump were offered academic scholarships. Combined the five students were offered $636,000 to attend several Michigan universities to study theatre.
The following students received recognition for their works that they created from acting to technical theatre. The rating of Superior is the highest ranking allocated at this festival and allows some students the opportunity to pursue attending the National Festival in June.
