Rochester Community Schools Foundation issued the following announcement on Mar 4.
This elephant toothpaste experiment creates foaming fun! When hydrogen peroxide comes into contact with yeast, it breaks down into water and oxygen. Oxygen is a gas that wants to escape the liquid. A little dish soap traps the gas bubbles and forms a foam that looks like toothpaste coming out of a tube.
Thanks to Thermo Fisher Scientific for bringing this hands-on experiment to our second- and third-graders.
