The national shortage of bus drivers continues to impact schools across the country, including RCS and the district’s transportation partner, Durham School Services.
We have been working throughout the weekend to explore all possible options as we navigate the challenges associated with limited staffing availability. Mark Hannah, Senior Vice President-North Central for Durham School Services, is scheduled to be in our area on Monday to continue discussions.
Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022, the following bus runs should expect temporary delays from 30-60 minutes. Durham will provide additional updates for each specific bus route.

As we work through the process of limited staffing, families can expect the following:
• Safety will always remain our priority.
• Schools will excuse tardiness and support students who are impacted by these transportation issues.
• Additional staff will be available throughout the day to assist families with transportation questions and concerns.
We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and we understand that this temporary adjustment may be challenging for many of our families. We truly appreciate the parents and caregivers who may be able to assist by carpooling, ride-sharing or providing their own transportation to and from school to help minimize attendance disruptions.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your building administrator, the transportation department at 248-726-5925, or use the Talk to RCS feature on the RCS website.
