Rep. Lisa McClain has expressed her support for the passage of the Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act. This legislation aims to increase criminal penalties for illegal immigrants who evade Border Patrol agents.

McClain stated, "Illegal activity at our northern and southern borders puts the safety of Americans in jeopardy." She emphasized that individuals who flee from Border Patrol should not be allowed to remain in the United States. According to McClain, House Republicans are committed to passing what she describes as "common-sense legislation" to enhance security in American communities.

The proposed Act is named after Officer Raul Gonzalez, who died during a high-speed chase near the border. The legislation seeks to bar illegal immigrants who escape capture by Border Patrol from ever being admitted into the country.

Rep. McClain serves Michigan’s 9th Congressional District, which includes the Blue Water Bridge, an international border crossing point.
