House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) has voted in favor of the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (FY26 NDAA), a bill aimed at strengthening national defense and supporting service members. The legislation is part of House Republicans’ Peace Through Strength agenda.
“The NDAA is more than just a defense bill. It’s a blueprint for keeping America safe, supporting our troops, and promoting American weapon manufacturing,” Chairwoman McClain said. “This year’s NDAA restores accountability, strengthens border security, and puts an end to woke ideology in our armed forces. Most importantly, it ensures our service members receive the pay, benefits, and cutting-edge tools they deserve to keep our nation secure.”
The FY26 NDAA includes a 3.8% pay raise for service members and new benefits for military families. It also provides full funding for several top defense priorities, such as the Golden Dome, F-47 fighter aircraft, submarines, warships, and autonomous systems. The bill grants additional authorities to the Department of Defense to support border security and introduces reforms to speed up the Pentagon’s acquisition process for battlefield technology.
Provisions in the legislation codify over a dozen executive orders and legislative requests from President Trump, including measures targeting DEI mandates and refocusing the military on lethality and accountability.
Lisa McClain has represented Michigan’s 9th district in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Paul Mitchell. She was born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966 and currently resides in Bruce. McClain earned her BBA from Northwood University in 1997.
