Matt Maddock, a Michigan state representative, posted several statements on his X (formerly Twitter) account on September 10, 2025, referencing Charlie Kirk and broader concerns about free speech.

In a post made at 21:14 UTC, Maddock wrote simply: "Ten million. https://t.co/tQSg3fxoCP".

Later that evening at 21:52 UTC, he commented on Charlie Kirk's public persona: "Charlie was more outspoken about his faith than he was his politics."

At 21:58 UTC the same day, Maddock addressed concerns regarding efforts to silence voices like Kirk’s, stating: "This isn’t about silencing Charlie Kirk, this is about silencing us. Don’t ever let them silence you."

Charlie Kirk is known as the founder and president of Turning Point USA, a conservative nonprofit organization focused on student activism in the United States.

Free speech debates have been prominent in recent years across U.S. political discourse, with politicians and commentators frequently expressing concern over what they describe as attempts to limit certain viewpoints online and in public forums.
