Chairwoman Lisa McClain, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Michigan’s 9th district since 2021, posted several messages on her social media accounts this week addressing recent events and policy updates.
On September 10, McClain expressed condolences following the reported death of Charlie Kirk. She wrote, "I am heartbroken to hear of Charlie Kirk’s passing. Today, his children lost their father and his wife lost her husband. My heart aches for them, for all who looked up to him, and for our country. I take comfort in knowing Charlie’s faith was strong, and I thank God for that."
The following day marked the anniversary of the September 11 attacks. On September 11, McClain posted a message reflecting on the event: "24 years ago, the world stood still. But from the ashes, America rose stronger and united in our love for country, and neighbor. We will never forget 9.11.2001. May God bless America."
Later that same day, McClain highlighted a tax policy change during a visit to Powhatan, Virginia: "County Seat Restaurant, Powhatan, VA. Here in VA-05, NO TAX ON TIPS is huge. Hardworking Americans and Virginians are keeping more of THEIR MONEY!"
McClain has represented Michigan's 9th district since replacing Paul Mitchell in 2021 and has served as Chairwoman during her tenure in Congress. Born in Stockbridge in 1966 and currently residing in Bruce at age 57, she graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
