Michigan State Representative Matt Maddock recently posted a series of tweets addressing regulatory and financial issues in Michigan, focusing on foreign spending on ballot proposals and state regulations.

On September 22, 2025, Maddock highlighted Michigan's position regarding foreign money in politics. He wrote, "Did you know Michigan is the number one state for foreign money spending on ballot proposals? I didn’t until now. Thank you @mark_tisdel".

Shortly after, he commented on the state's regulatory environment. On September 22, 2025, Maddock stated, "Michigan has 3x more “red tape” compared to most states."

Continuing his critique of government regulations, Maddock shared a personal anecdote on September 23, 2025: "Friend of mine opened up a restaurant/store/gas station. Guberment required 37 separate inspections, fees and licenses."

Matt Maddock serves as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives. His recent posts reflect ongoing debates within the state about regulatory reform and campaign finance transparency. In recent years, concerns have been raised over both the complexity of business licensing requirements in Michigan and the influence of out-of-state or foreign funds in local ballot initiatives.
