House Republican Lisa McClain, who represents Michigan’s 9th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the ongoing government funding dispute between House Republicans and Democrats.
On September 30, 2025, McClain stated, "House Republicans did their job. I voted to keep the government open. Democrats are blocking that right now."
Later that day, she expanded on her position with another post: "Democrats voted AGAINST the very funding they approved six months ago. Instead they would rather see: Health care for illegals Rural health funding stripped away Our troops not get paid This will be a radical Democrat shutdown!" The tweet directly accused Democrats of opposing previously approved funding and outlined potential consequences if a shutdown were to occur.
In a third post dated October 1, 2025, McClain continued her criticism: "The Democrats just voted to shut down the government. This will cost our servicemen and women their pay, moms on WIC their benefits, and veterans timely care - all because they have caved to the far-left progressives in their party! It’s shameful."
Lisa McClain has served as U.S. Representative for Michigan's 9th District since replacing Paul Mitchell in 2021. Born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966 and currently residing in Bruce at age 57, she holds a BBA from Northwood University earned in 1997.
