U.S. Representative Lisa McClain, who serves Michigan’s 9th district in Congress, has recently used her social media platform to criticize Democratic lawmakers over issues related to military pay and support for Michigan farmers.

On October 10, 2025, McClain posted: "While Democrats play politics, our troops, federal law enforcement officers, and so many others are left holding the bag. If the heroes defending this country aren’t getting paid, Congress sure shouldn’t be either. So, I’ve told them to HOLD MY PAYCHECK until Democrats do their https://t.co/abFrTOnhPl".

The following day, on October 11, she addressed the role of Senators Peters and Slotkin regarding agricultural policy: "Senators Peters and Slotkin have turned their backs on the very people who feed this nation. Michigan’s farmers deserve fighters, not politicians who forget where their food comes from.

Just ask this hardworking Michigan farmer https://t.co/M39qAZ6Q7U".

Later that same day, McClain returned to the subject of military pay during government shutdown debates: "Democrats have voted EIGHT times to deny our military the pay they’ve earned. Our service members deserve support—not political games.

Thank you President Trump for protecting our troops from the Democrat shutdown and ensuring they get paid. https://t.co/XjVxj54ojI".

Lisa McClain has represented Michigan's 9th district in Congress since replacing Paul Mitchell in 2021. She was born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966 and currently resides in Bruce. McClain graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1997.
