Lisa McClain posts on Israeli hostages' release, Columbus Day, and Navy anniversary

U.S. Congresswoman Lisa McClain, who represents Michigan’s 9th district, posted a series of messages on October 13, 2025, highlighting recent international events, historical commemorations, and a military anniversary.

In her first post on October 13, McClain announced the release of Israeli hostages and expressed gratitude to former President Donald Trump: "Breaking: The Israeli hostages are now free. Thank you President Trump for your unwavering commitment to liberating those kept in Hamas’s captivity!!".

Later that day, she recognized Columbus Day by reflecting on her heritage and the legacy of Christopher Columbus. On October 13, she wrote: "As an Italian-American, I’m proud to celebrate the courage and spirit of exploration that Christopher Columbus embodied. His voyage in 1492 marked a turning point in history and reminds us of the determination and vision that built our great nation.

Happy Columbus Day!"

In a third message posted on October 13, McClain marked the U.S. Navy's 250th birthday by thanking service members: "Happy 250th Birthday to the @USNavy!

To all who have worn the uniform and those serving today: thank you for your unwavering dedication to America."

Lisa McClain has served in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Paul Mitchell as representative for Michigan’s 9th district. Born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966, McClain is currently 57 years old and resides in Bruce. She graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1997.
