Matt Maddock, a Michigan state representative, published a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) in October 2025 that criticized Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and the Democratic Party. The posts focus on recent legal proceedings involving Republican electors in Michigan.
On October 14, 2025, Maddock alleged that "@dananessel did a malicious political prosecution on the Republican Electors that were (in Judge Simmons’ words) only exercising their First Amendment rights." The post references Judge Simmons' characterization of the electors' actions as protected under the First Amendment.
Later that day, Maddock posted another message criticizing government operations under Democratic leadership: "How Democrats and communists run government" (October 14, 2025).
On October 15, 2025, Maddock continued his criticism of Attorney General Nessel with a personal remark: "Sux to be Noxious Nessel. Friends are leaving. Career is over and she knows Whistleblowers will soon be singing to @TheJusticeDept"
Dana Nessel has served as Michigan's attorney general since 2019 and has overseen several high-profile cases during her tenure. In July 2023, her office brought charges against multiple individuals accused of acting as "fake electors" in connection with efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in Michigan. These prosecutions have generated significant political debate in the state.
Matt Maddock is known for his outspoken support of conservative causes and his opposition to Democratic officials in Michigan.
