Michigan State Representative Matt Maddock has recently posted several comments on his social media account, addressing issues related to court procedures and public policy in Michigan.
On October 20, 2025, Maddock posted a brief endorsement with two thumbs-up emojis: " https://t.co/Bf5yej8P8N".
Later that day, he commented on Michigan's bail system, stating: "In Michigan, if you fail to appear in court the judge must set a cash/surety bond and not allow a 10% or personal bond but they don’t follow this law and often just release with no bail over and over. https://t.co/Wccur8uH2e" (October 20, 2025).
The following day, Maddock remarked: "They all want more free stuff https://t.co/vbMWFAR8Zl" (October 21, 2025).
Matt Maddock serves as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives. His recent statements reflect ongoing debates within the state regarding judicial discretion in setting bail for defendants who fail to appear in court. Under current Michigan law, judges are required to set a cash or surety bond when an individual fails to appear; however, there have been discussions about inconsistent application of these rules by some courts.
