Chairwoman Lisa McClain, U.S. Congresswoman representing Michigan’s 9th district since 2021, posted a series of statements on October 21, 2025, addressing recent political developments and a local tragedy.

In a post on October 21, McClain commented on a segment from Fox News, stating, ".@ChadPergram is exactly right on @FoxNews’ @SpecialReport. The Democrats’ arguments don’t hold up to the smell test. If Trump was king, we’d have the government funded today. But he’s not, which is why the Left has abused their power and leveraged this shutdown to demand $1.5". She criticized Democratic lawmakers and suggested that the current government shutdown is being used as leverage for increased spending.

Later the same day, McClain responded to local news from her district: "This is tragic news out of one of our communities in MI-09. My heart goes out to Lieutenant Miner’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. God bless all of our first responders!".

In another statement posted that afternoon, McClain reiterated her position regarding the ongoing government shutdown, writing, "Democrats aren’t fighting for YOU. They’re fighting for the most radical one percent. They are leveraging this shutdown to demand $1.5 trillion in wasteful spending."

Lisa McClain has served in Congress since replacing Paul Mitchell in 2021. She was born in Stockbridge, Michigan in 1966 and currently resides in Bruce. McClain earned her BBA from Northwood University in 1997.
