Rep. Lisa McClain of Michigan expressed her views following the passage of the Preventing Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act in the U.S. House of Representatives.

In her statement, McClain said, “Democrats had a chance to show whose side they are on. Some in their party chose to stand with illegal aliens, while the entire Republican conference showed we stand with our daughters, nieces, granddaughters, and sisters. House Republicans are already making our country safer, and I commend Congresswoman Nancy Mace for her efforts on this legislation.”

The bill aims to address a gap in immigration law by introducing inadmissibility for certain domestic violence-related offenses. It seeks to protect women from violent illegal immigrants by establishing grounds for inadmissibility and removability for those convicted of or admitting to a second offense under the Adam Walsh Child Protection Act of 2006.
